So I didn't get into JET this year; maybe I will apply again next year, or maybe I will try some other program.

I do not know what I will do at the moment, just trying to figure things out.

One semester left until I am out of academia, and I have been going crazy about if I will have a job...

Right now all of my eggs are in the JET Program basket. It would be my dream job right now, so I am really hoping that it goes through.

If that falls through I am thinking about AmeriCorps or the Foreign Service. Foreign Service would be a great career, though I do not know if I want to get locked into it; it is a pretty big commitment. AmeriCorp would likewise be a great experience, but it had no promotion potential.

We will see; if everything else falls through, I will have to see if I can get some sort of job on the hill being an office slave.

Ok, well this year has been alright so far (except for the work part)

Off to Louisiana this weekend for St. Bernard Project! Should be great!

See you cats later.

BTW Metro Station is a great band that I discovered via ITMS.

Hey, long time no post!

Just wanted to ask everyone if they have a free moment each day to vote for our service project on grablifegivelife.com

We are trying to raise money for the St. Bernard Project, a non-profit habitat project that operates in St. Bernard Parish, one of the places hardest-hit by hurricane Katrina.

You can vote once per day with a .edu address, the first to 20,000 votes gets 20,000 dollars donated to their charity. (Which just happens to be our fundraising goal.)

If you have the time, please help us out by voting and telling your friends.

Thanks a bunch!

From "I'd Give it All for You"

Songs for a New World,

lyrics by Jason Robert Brown

...

Oh, I gave it all for you

I gave it all for you by my side once more

Oh, I gave it all for you

I gave it 'cause it's harder to touch

The things that are dearer

I love you too much

To trust something clearer

I know I fell too far

But here you are

I bought the FFIX Soundtrack PLUS from iTunes. It was 9.99 for 42 tracks. The bulk of the CD is music from FMVs, but there are some nice bonus tracks. I am listening to the Melodies of Life (Silent Mix). This is one of my favorite themes from a final fantasy. Here are the first few stanzas of lyrics.

Alone for a while I've been searching through the dark

For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart

To weave by picking up the pieces that remain

    Melodies of life--love's lost refrain

Our paths they did cross, though I cannot say just why

We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye

And who'll hear the echoes of stories never told?

Let them ring out loud till they unfold

In my dearest memories, I see you reaching out to me

Though you're gone, I still believe that you can call out my name

   * A voice from the past, joining yours and mine

Adding up the layers of harmony

And so it goes, on and on

     Melodies of life,

To the sky beyond the flying birds--forever and beyond

Been really bored as of late. Was trying to get in touch with Kelly to see if she wanted to get dinner or something, but she hasn't returned my calls/IMs.

Forever and on....

Hilarious
wtf
The title of this entry is no comment on the Government, but on the people.

I took a call today from a guy who had called earlier for a fax number to send a complaint. One of the other assistants had given him a fax number, and in the call I took, he said it didn't work.

Alright... So I gave him a different number ( the fax for the hotline complaint center ). He later called and said that didn't work. The plot thickens...

I then give him our office's fax machine, a machine which I have access to. He says that one also doesn't work; he says his machine has said that all of them have given the error "no answer."

Now, at this point he has me send him a fax so we can see if my machine works. And we send him a fax. Which works. And then he concludes... Wait for it... Again he has dialed three machines, all giving him the same error... and he concludes... Drum Roll please ...

My machine (not his) is broken.

I kindly suggest that maybe his machine is broken. He says, no your machine is broken, it can send but it can not receive...

Alright.

In other news, our office is T -8 Days for the move to the new building, which I had the opportunity to visit very shortly yesterday. It is quite a beautiful building, in a shitty-but-developing neighborhood, and I get a desk, which is awesome.

In other work news, I am trying to bring myself to ask for a raise in grade from a 4 to a 5. I am eligible because I now have 4 years of college education and 1 year of experience at the GS-4 level. I do not know if I deserve the raise though, and depending upon which agency you look at Students may or may not be eligible for such a grade raise.

It is ultimately up to my managers, and I do not know how it will fly.

We shall see.

Finally, in school news, I got good grades last semester.

That is all!

Sorry for the long entry, just providing a life update.
